Set a Username
May be changed, but breaks profile links
Once connected, tapping on the account pane menu (or Backtick) and choosing ‘Settings’ lets you adjust account settings.
From here, select ‘Username’.
Type in a new username; as long as it is accepted, you can tap ‘Apply’ to change it. Once changed, any links referring to your old name will not work, and your profile can be accessed via the new name. For example, for the name ‘user’, https://polylude.com/user.
The names ‘user’, ‘User’, and ‘useR’ — names being case–insensitive — are treated the same.
Reasons for Rejecting a Username?
- Usernames can not contain either the words ‘Polylude’ or ‘Admin’. Other words that can be contained but not used on their own are: ‘Support’, ‘Legal’, ‘Settings’.
- If someone else is already using a name.
- Usernames can’t contain spaces; just (currently only Latin) alphabetical and digit characters, and underscores.
