Creating and Navigating Series
Arrange a set of topics and statements into meaningful order, for easy navigating.
Custom Series
If there’s a set of ideas within a larger playpen that make sense together (or even if they don’t!), these can be collected in custom series.
These series can then be shared as you like, similar to a slide deck.
Standard Series
For basic movement around their ideas, all playpens start with (or automatically gain) a few standard series:
Main Timeline
The ‘Main Timeline’ arranges topics and statements by the order in which they are created. This order may not always be meaningful; it just provides an easy way to visit – without repeats – all of a playpen’s content.
Removing from the timeline will delete from the playpen.
Random Walk
Sometimes new perspectives can come from seeing familiar ideas in unexpected ways.
Each ‘Random Walk’ will follow paths through your ideas. When there is a fork in the path, a direction will be picked at random. Or, when at the end of a path, a new path will be picked at random.
Previous Find
This series will be re-created after every use of the ‘Find’ tool to look for text in a playpen. Topics & statements, if any, will appear first. Links, if any, appear last.
While this series can be shared, it is unique to each session and will not be visible by default in a playpen’s series listing. It will disappear from your listing when the current playpen is unloaded.
Unrevised References
When building on others’ ideas, those who created the ideas can revise their thoughts after they’re referenced by others.
To keep thoughts consistent with their own context, references are not automatically updated and will keep showing their previous content until manually revised.
This series is used to quickly find the ideas in the current playpen which have been revised elsewhere. Letting you then choose which to revise locally, and which to keep as they were.
This series will only be listed for as long as there are unrevised references present.
