Editing Concept & Link Properties
For when ideas are not fully described by their text and type
Perhaps you want to ’tag’ your ideas in some way; to provide a citation; to indicate a difference between two similar concepts or links.
Each concept and link can have a set of properties: each property being a name and a value. When a single concept or link is selected, its properties are on display in the ‘context pane’.
Adding a Property
When viewing one of your playpens, at the top of the properties listing is an ‘Add’ button. Tap it and an input field will appear for the property name. Once you have provided a name, press Enter and a field will appear for the value. When you press Enter after providing a value, the property will be added.
There are a few limits on the properties you can add. You can’t add properties starting with an underscore. Trying to add a ’name’ property for a topic changes the topic itself. Trying to add a ’text’ property to a statement changes the statement.
A name property can not be added to a statement, nor a text property to a topic.
Seekers are a special case: they can have a ’name’ or ’text’ — and adding one will discard the other.
Changing a Property
The name of a property can not be changed, but to change the value, either tap it or its name while viewing the properties in your concept or link’s original context. A field will appear to change the value.
Removing a Property
Similar to changing the property. Once the field is cleared, you can tap Escape/Delete to remove the property, or you can leave the field while it’s empty and you will be given the option to remove it.
