Playpen View
1. The Hex Button
The most important element to get familiar with. It has two main functions when exploring playpens:
- Switch contexts: From Draw, to Action, to Series. (Drag the button)
- Leave the current playpen (Tap the button)
Learn more about its many other uses.
2. The Account Pane & Menu
When logged in, shows basic details of the current account.
It has two interactive features:
- The pane itself
- Tapping on the pane (or the Backtick key) will reveal a menu. For logging in/out, and various navigation options.
- The avatar & finder slider
- Flips between avatar and find tools based on selection in the playpen.
3. The Canvas
Your canvas for drawing ideas and linking them together. Has two modes: Placement and Connect.
Selecting a concept or link (or tapping 0) puts you in Placement mode. In this mode, you can draw or move ideas, or use the lasso.
In the Draw context, tapping the canvas puts you in Connect mode. Instead of drawing and moving ideas, in this mode you can drag the canvas to pan, and then draw links between the ideas you find.
Or in the Series context, tap the canvas to quickly switch back to the Draw context.
4. The Context Pane
This pane shows contextual insights, so its contents will vary depending on what is selected and which of the three – Draw, Action, or Series – contexts are active.
In Draw or Series contexts, when concepts or links are selected, the pane will show details of those selections. An individual concept or link can have details that are less visible on the canvas, like a ’type’ or properties. When that concept or link is selected on its own, those are present in the context pane. And in your own playpens, may be edited there too.
When nothing is selected, you will see details of the current playpen. In your own playpens, you’ll be able to adjust their name and privacy settings. And for any playpen, to choose what to visualize.
In the Action context, the pane will show a navigable timeline of recent changes to the current playpen.
The pane may be grown or shrunk by dragging its corner icon. When an edit is in progress, this icon may show a ‘cancel’ symbol, in which case tapping this icon will cancel this edit.
Island View
1. Island Hub Button
When in focus, displays any biographical info for the current island’s profile in the context pane. And if other islands are loaded, the Tab key will cycle through them & their bios.
When the island is yours, tapping the hub creates a new playpen.
2. Island Hexes
Each hex surrounding the hub corresponds to a playpen. The hex directly above the hub was created or modified most recently. Moving clockwise and in an outward spiral from there goes from the most recent to the oldest changes.
3. The Context Pane
When those hexes surrounding the hub are selected, the context pane will show the corresponding playpen’s details. Such as its name, when it was last updated, and its privacy. For playpens you own, it also lets you rename or delete it, or change its privacy.
When the hub is selected, it will show biographical details provided by the owner of the current profile.
4. The Hex Button (Only Sometimes Visible)
