What happens when I gift or redeem credit?

Potential Perks

If someone activates a new subscription with account credit you gift1 (when the gift is $5 or more), and you both hold an active account for a given amount of time2, you as a gifter receive account credit.

The amount of time (and at which tier) you both need to hold an account will depend on the gift amount:

Some examples using the above table:

  • If you gifted five people $5 account credit each, and you + four of them held accounts for six months, you’d get one month credit (adding 4 × ¼ month credit for each finished hold).
  • If you gifted $25 account credit, and you and the giftee held your accounts for a year, you’d get one month credit.
  • If you gifted $150, and you both held Premier accounts for two years, you’d get six months account credit.

Gifting Account Credit

Select the ‘Gift’ option from the ‘Manage funds’ view of your subscription settings, and indicate who should receive the chosen amount. The email addresses you mention (whether or not they have an account already) will be sent a code for redeeming the account credit. You can review the gifts you have sent – and whether they have been redeemed – by tapping on ‘Gifting history’.

To gift multiple people at once, simply enter their respective email addresses, separated by commas.

You will be given the option to write the giftees a message with your gift, along with a preview of required payment, when you tap ‘Preview Gift’.

Redeeming Account Credit

Received a code for Polylude account credit? You’ll be directed to this page, where you can enter the code. If you’re connected to your account, the account credit will top up automatically.

If you currently lack an account, you will be guided to create one. The new account can still be activated even if the gift value is less than the cost of the chosen subscription plan4, but it will only remain activated when you set a payment method for the account within the time covered by the gift value.

  1. If someone activates an account with redeemed gifts from multiple gifters (or multiple gifts from the same gifter), only one gifter (by way of only one of their gifts to the giftee) becomes a candidate for reward. The gifter who’s — $5 or more — gift is redeemed earliest. ↩︎

  2. From the time when the giftee activates their account. If one (or both) of the accounts is closed before the end of the holding period, the referral bonus is lost. ↩︎

  3. For the first two ranges – without a required tier – the credit earned is the equivalent of the lowest subscription fee (tax inclusive) of your account during the holding time. ↩︎ ↩︎

  4. As long as it covers at least an hour at the chosen plan. Otherwise you’ll need to complete the first payment. ↩︎
